#6 English Song

Chandelier

by Sia

Party girls don't get hurt
Can't feel anything, when will I learn
I push it down, push it down
I'm the one "for a good time call"
Phone's blowin' up, they're ringin' my doorbell
I feel the love, feel the love

[Pre-Chorus]

1,2,3 1,2,3 drink
1,2,3 1,2,3 drink
1,2,3 1,2,3 drink
Throw 'em back, 'til I lose count

[Chorus]

I'm gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier
I'm gonna live like tomorrow doesn't exist
Like it doesn't exist
I'm gonna fly like a bird through the night, feel my tears as they dry
I'm gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier

But I'm holding on for dear life, won't look down won't open my eyes
Keep my glass full until morning light, 'cos I'm just holding on for tonight
Help me, I'm holding on for dear life, won't look down won't open my eyes
Keep my glass full until morning light, 'cos I'm just holding on for tonight
On for tonight

Sun is up, I'm a mess
Gotta get out now, gotta run from this
Here comes the shame, here comes the shame

[Pre-Chorus]

1,2,3 1,2,3 drink
1,2,3 1,2,3 drink
1,2,3 1,2,3 drink

[Chorus]

I'm gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier
I'm gonna live like tomorrow doesn't exist
Like it doesn't exist
I'm gonna fly like a bird through the night, feel my tears as they dry
I'm gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier

Chandelier by Sia, currently is one of my favorite song. Because not only the music sounds really good but also the lyrics has a really great meaning behind it. I think everyone's interpretation of the song is different but quite similar in some ways.
The music video features Maddie Ziegler, an American child dancer, actress, and model. She is best known for appearing on Lifetime's reality series, "Dance Moms", and for her appearances in numerous music videos.
Chandelier is written and sang by Sia Kate Isobelle Furler, better known simply as Sia. She is an Australian downtempo, pop, and jazz singer and songwriter.

I really love the song because I think the melody is beautiful and quite unique.
The music video seems to be quite confusing and weird at first, but if you listen carefully to the lyrics and the song, it would make more sense and there's actually a deep meaning behind the song itself.

My own interpretation of the song:
She's keeping her feelings to herself and trying to forget them by partying and drinking. She doesn't have any real friends. Her friends just want to be around her when they want to have a good time (partying, going to the clubs, etc.)
Alcohol is the only thing that makes her forget about everything.
She doesn't want to think about tomorrow when she could feel her pain again, and so she keeps saying she's just holding on for tonight.
She has a mask that she puts on. She wants the people around her to think that she's fine, that she's happy. But in reality, she is actually broken.

#5 Steve Jobs' 2005 Commencement Speech

Watch the video and read the script of Steve Jobs' Stanford Commencement Speech on the link below:

Steve Jobs' 2005 Commencement Speech

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
- Steve Jobs

I personally feel that Steve Jobs' speech is quite inspiring, especially for us students, who still have a long way to reach success. We have to have the courage to follow our heart.
Sometimes we already know what we really want to do in our life, but we're just too afraid to actually go out of our own comfort zone and make our dreams come true. There are also times when we are afraid of other people's opinion on ourselves, what the society think of us, what our friends and relatives think of us, etc. But that doesn't mean that we have to give up our dreams and forever live in misery.
We don't have to wear a mask and wasting our whole life to become someone else. The most important thing is to be ourselves, everyone is unique in their own way.
I also often tell myself not to think too much about what other people think, and just focus on becoming a better person each and everyday.
To live life to the fullest.
